On October 20th, three of our New England Trail Adopters will be leading a morning hike on Section 16 of the New England Trail in Erving State Forest. This 3.5 mile moderate loop includes beautiful ledge views, a waterfall on the Briggs Brook and the famous Hermit's Castle (pictured). Pre-registration is required and details can be found at: https://activities.outdoors.org/search/index.cfm/action/details/id/108466.
Welcome to the AMC Western MA 20s/30s Committee!
Please join us at the Berkshire Bash, AMC Berkshire Chapter's annual dinner meeting!
This year we are requiring that the event fee [$20] be paid when you register through our Eventbrite page. Please register by October 29. This is important because we must give a count to the venue. Cancellations may be made through the Eventbrite site.
Cindy’s story begins in the Rocky Mountain wilderness on a unique and extraordinary journey: two parents leading their young children 3,100 miles on the backs of llamas. This Canada-Mexico trek illustrated to Cindy and her husband what experiential education can do. Inspired by the experience, they went on to create a new way of supplementing their children’s education, focusing on two arenas for learning: the natural world and travel.
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN! Join chapter members of all ages for a celebration of all things outdoors: guided hikes, nature walks, camping skills workshops, music throughout the day, child-friendly activities, and a climbing wall! This free event includes a BBQ lunch and will be held at Noble View, an amazing and popular 358-acre facility that has been connected to our chapter since 1930.
Take the first step to becoming an outdoor trip leader for your local AMC Chapter! Brush up on your outdoor leadership skills and connect with other outdoor enthusiasts in their 20s & 30s. Register by September 7th. Click here to learn more.
Many Chapter members know well how to find out about upcoming trips like bicycling rides, hikes, climbs, and paddling excursions. What isn't as well known is that "volunteer opportunities" are listed in a different place! While most volunteer opportunities take place in the outdoors just like Chapter trips, they aren't really "trips." Rather, they are opportunities to "give back" in different ways, like these:
