Welcome to the AMC Western MA Paddling Committee!
The Paddling Committee organizes various paddle sports: quietwater and whitewater canoeing and kayaking, whitewater and sea kayaking, and whitewater rafting.
For activity-specific information, see:
Whitewater paddling means canoeing and kayaking. We are happy to have new paddlers join us. Whitewater paddling screening and possibly training is mandatory for participation. Whitewater training is available through local whitewater schools, through the Western Mass chapter's whitewater training program, or through training programs by other AMC chapters.
Please review the AMC Trip Policy before joining a trip.
Dam Releases. For information about scheduled dam releases, see Deerfield River Release Schedule.
Release Schedules. For links to online river gauges, see Gauges.
For more information about the Westfield River see Westfield River (National Wild Scenic River System).
"Quietwater" paddling means scenic canoeing or kayaking on lakes, ponds, and relatively calm rivers. Western Massachusetts has some splendid rivers and lakes for quietwater canoeing. We'll take you there, and we can even help provide you with a boat and gear.
Our quietwater trips are listed in the trip schedule. Please read the AMC Trip Policy before joining a trip. Click here to sign up for the quietwater discussion list. For questions or information email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
