Do you like walking in the woods? You can learn to care for the trails you enjoy by becoming an AMC Trail Adopter right here in Massachusetts. AMC’s Adopt-A-Trail program enables volunteers to take ownership on a section of specific trail and oversee basic maintenance of that trail. The prospective adopter chooses from a list of open trails in the Noble View trail network and plans at least one work trip per month to check on trail conditions, clear drainage areas, lop the corridor, and dig into small projects as well as report on larger trail issues. AMC trails staff will offer a fun, hands-on daylong trail work training free of charge. Staff will also be available regularly to answer any questions and continue developing skills further.
Taking on the stewardship of a trail is a privilege, and it is important that the adopter take the responsibilities of maintaining the trail seriously. As an individual, the volunteer can work on the trail when it suits their schedule and may bring friends and family along for the experience too! Interested parties should contact Aaron North, Southern New England Regional Trails Supervisor at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, July 31, 2020. A trail work training session is tentatively set for the weekend of August 8, 2020.
