150th Anniversary Challenge

Are you up for a challenge? The Western MA Chapter wants YOU! To help celebrate AMC's 150th anniversary in 2026, we challenge you to participate in 150 "miles worth" of activities between January 1 and October 31, 2026. Those who meet the challenge will receive a special commemorative patch and a shout-out at our Fall Social and Annual Meeting.

Come on out! Enjoy the outdoors! Try a new activity! Make new friends or renew old acquaintances! Activities with ANY AMC chapter count toward your goal. To register and for more information, email info@amc-wma.org.

Once you have registered for the 150th Anniversary Challenge, sign up for AMC-led activities with the Western MA Chapter or any other chapter on the Outdoors Connector. After completing each activity, email info@amc-wma.org with the trip name, leader, activity type, and miles. Our membership committee will track your miles and let you know how close you are to reaching the 150-mile goal.

Since not all outings are alike, and to encourage your participation in different AMC-sponsored activities, we've created mileage equivalents:
  • Alpine skiing (1 outing): 10 miles
  • Biking (1 outing): 10 miles
  • Book club (1 meeting): 5 miles
  • Conservation (1/2 day): 15 miles
  • Cross country skiing (1 outing): 10 miles
  • Family program (1 outing): 10 miles
  • Hiking (1 outing): number of miles hiked
  • Mountaineering (1 outing): 10 miles
  • Paddling (1 outing): 10 miles
  • Snowshoeing (1 outing): number of miles snowshoed
  • Socials (1 outing): 5 miles
  • Trail work (1/2 day): 15 miles
  • Volunteering (1 outing): 10 miles

Noble View — Past, Present, and Future

May 23, 2026, 1:00-4:30 PM

Join us as we celebrate AMCs 150th Anniversary at Noble View Outdoor Center with a day of history, trails, and community. Enjoy guided walks, trail work, demonstrations, hikes, family activities, and a free BBQ as we explore Noble View's past, present, and future.

To honor the past, we will feature a historical display along with guided walks to remnants of earlier activity on the property. These walks offer a glimpse into the history of the land long before it became the beloved outdoor destination it is today.

We celebrate the present by welcoming our Western MA Bicycling group as they complete their AMC 150 ride from Washington, MA. We will then enjoy a delicious free BBQ, share time together as a community, and recognize the AMC volunteer award recipients.

The future of Noble View lies in its trails. Noble View serves as an AMC trails facility, where volunteers learn how to build and maintain trails across the region.
