There are always amazing things happening in the outdoors, and all of them leave stories. Tracking is fun way to learn: it puts the QUEST back into question and the SEARCH back into research. Engage all the senses: touching the tracks, listening to birds and other woodland residents, and examining markings left behind on trees. Come hike with us as we gain a deeper understanding of the forest in winter and discover who is out and about at Noble View. Snowshoes required.
Save the Date: AMC Berkshire Annual Member (and guest) Potluck, Genesis Conference Center, 53 Mill Street, Westfield MA
Please review the meeting agenda. We need to spend at least 45 minutes on the budget, and since we'll be discussing some items that will cost money, it will need to be the last item.
The meeting will be held at Courtyard Marriott Hadley, 423 Russell St., Hadley MA (across from the Campus Plaza Shopping Center). They'll be wheeling in vegetarian soup, garden salad, turkey club sandwiches and cookies at about 5:30 PM - please let me know by a few days beforehand if you want a hummus sandwich instead.

Wild Edibles Foraging Workshop
We are fortunate in the Appalachian Mountain Club chapters to be able to apply for funds for Special Projects like trail work and conservation-oriented events. We recently received funds for a conservation workshop like this, foraging for wild edibles in the heart of the Hilltowns.
Come join Berkshire AMC for our Berkshire Bash on Saturday, November 2nd from 6-9 PM. We’ll be at a new place, Willits-Hallowell Conference Center in Mt. Holyoke College (https://www.mtholyoke.edu/willits/directions_willits) . Set in the beautiful historic campus, this modern building has meeting rooms overlooking Stony Brook, providing a beautiful backdrop for our meeting, dinner and presentation by Sue Morse, wildlife educator from www.keepingtrack.org.
"In Your Backyard" is a novel way to introduce families to local adventures. Meeting on the last Sunday of the month, our hikes have included Noble View's Pitcher Brook Falls in Russell, MA, Sanderson Brook Falls in Chester, MA, and Mt. Greylock! Ages have ranged from toddlers to grandparents.
Each hike has a theme from conservation to climate change, and the length adjusts to the ability of the hikers, typically from 2-6 miles. Please Contact Heather Wyman @ SquareRoot123@Gmail.com for more information on participating or with suggestions.
